Writing in the clouds

When I have a story in my mind I live up in the clouds, with momentary bouts of reality whenever someone yanks me down.

Well, as the above sentence indicates, when I’m drafting a story, particularly a long one, I tend to walk in the clouds. When I’m forced to come back down, I’m usually scattered, (more) disorganized, and short tempered. That’s right, I get cranky as an old lady deprived of an afternoon nap and favorite sweet when I have to focus outside my head.

But that’s not the reason I haven’t been posting lately, or not the entire reason.

In fact, I’ve had several posts ready to publish. One  I typed late at night, only to find out in the morning that the editor layout in WP changed. So, since I had all these people talking at once in my head, I put that first post aside. And then a few days later I had another post typed and ready to go, and again, though it was no surprise this time around, I wasn’t able to post. And then two days ago I had another topic in mind.

I tried disabling the new editor, but so far, though I’ve been told it’s there, I can’t seem to find ‘disable Gutenberg” anywhere.

This post, if it works, is being drafted in the draft box, saved and hopefully, I’ll be able to find publish and let everyone know that I’m cranky, frustrated, but still alive.

So I’m going to add here just the points of the past three posts that I’ve been denied posting before:

• I got a publishing contract for my trilogy!!! Isn’t that great?
• Ok, most of y’all know I’m a pantser but that I have the ending to the trilogy ready, right? A few days ago I woke up early – way too early – and I brainstormed this ending that had me getting up and doing a victory dance at 4:47 in the morning. Though I’m still smoothing out edges and ironing it out, I know this ending is the best idea I’ve had so far.
• A couple days ago the publisher – Creativia Publisher – e-mailed me a new cover for Heir of Ashes! I would add it here to the post, except I can’t find the add media button with this new editor thing (rolling my eyes and clenching my teeth here.

 

Ok, this is all the news for today. Hopefully I didn’t just spend the past few minutes furiously typing just to add this post to the pile of growing drafts (I’m on 68 drafts by now, let’s see if this will make 69).
