I’m baaaack – well, sort of

So, my last post was to tell you guys that I would be taking some time away from my blog so that I could finish the last details of my book before publication.
Well, progress is very slow, what with the kids at home and my mom in her vacation, I haven’t yet finished. I am, however, very close.
Today I came out of my editing haze to let you know I’m still alive and to let you know that I’ve been nominated for the awesome blogger award.
But before I go any further, I’d like to ask everyone for a silent moment for Ryder, our friend James Cudney’s beloved friend, and his shiba inu dog of ten years who passed away unexpectedly last week.
My thoughts are with you, J.
*********
So, Lisarey1990 from Culture Vulture Express, thank you for thinking about my blog when you were choosing your nominees. I enjoy following your blog and reading all the great and interesting stories – sometimes funny, sometimes thought provoking. For more on lisarey1990, go to:
https://culturevultureexpress.wordpress.com/

Lisarey1990’s questions:

1. What is the latest book you’re reading and are you enjoying it?
Me: Deja Who, by Mary Janice Davidson. I picked it up a few weeks ago and sadly – as I was enjoying it very much – had to put it down because time and I aren’t on speaking terms anymore.

2. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Other?
Me: Well, those of you who know me know how clueless I am with social media. For those who don’t, being blind and managing a platform that is mainly visual isn’t an easy task. So, other than blogging, my twitter and facebook account are suffering horribly.

3. What is your favourite word and why?
Me: Lately? Skedaddle – it’s got this nice sound to it and for some reason I find it funny (don’t ask why).

4. Dogs or Cats?
Me: I love animals in general and I’ve had plenty of pets throughout the years, from small lizards to parrots and a lot in between. But if I were to choose a pet, I’d choose a cat since they aren’t as dependable.

5. Is there any song that holds any special meaning to you?
Me: I love music and I think I can connect with a part of each song I like to listen to (that’s why I like it), but as I pointed recently to a friend, ‘The greatest love of all’ does have depth and meaning.

6. What do you feel strongly about?
Me: People who judge others – and gossip about it without knowing the truth. It just pisses me off, especially if they are gossiping about someone I know.

7. If you could grant one person in your life one wish, what would it be?
Me: Peace of mind.

8. What is your favourite film?
Me: I haven’t watched a movie in over a decade, but before that, I loved watching Brave Heart; Dragon Heart; Rush Hour; Bad Boys and Money Speaks… There are probably others,, but I can’t remember now. I probably will once I publish this post.

9. What is your favourite book?
Me: Ah, I’m actually a bookaholic. So, I have so many favorites, this is actually a tough question.

10. Did you make any New Year’s Resolutions?
Me: I did not. I think though that the last one I made was that I would no longer look back and regret what was once

Alright, questions answered. Now it’s time to start nominating. Though I’d suggest the nominees head on to Lisarey’s post at https://culturevultureexpress.wordpress.com/2018/01/09/culture-vulture-express-wins-awesome-blogger-award/
to make sure there wasn’t any images to post here.
So, I’ll go a little wild here and start nominating (and they aren’t only ten).

I know I’m forgetting a few, and like the movies, I know I’ll remember them the moment I click on publish, so whoever I didn’t mention here, I will on the next award – the sunshine blogger award.

As this is an awesome blogger award, I thought it appropriate to make my questions something blogging related, so most of my questions will be about blogging, the rest about you.
Note that you aren’t obligated by any means to answer these questions but I’d love to hear your take on them, so, please do!

My questions:
1- Why did you start blogging?
2- Do you choose the contents of your blog by random or do you have a system?
3- Do you rather type the contents of your post on a keyboard – all ten fingers – or on a screen with thumbs?
4- If technology was to become extinct but there was one thing that you could keep, what would it be?
5- Is there a type of blog that you seek to follow, or do you only follow those who follow you – or do you only follow the blogs that you really enjoy?
6- During a cold storm, would you rather spend your time reading, watching a movie or talking on the phone?
7- When you hear the word fantasy, what comes first to your mind?
8- Have you ever lied about having a commitment so you could stay at home lazing around or blogging, or just to finish reading a book you particularly enjoyed?
9- What’s a word you can’t stop using on your posts but think you should?
10- If you were asked to rename your blog, what would you name it?

That’s all for now fellas. I’ll be coming and going around wp as I finish the last details in my book – I’m slower than a slug on a hot desert road, but I’ll return to regular postings the moment I finish.

Wish me luck!

  1. Congratulations with the publication. It’s certainly a long road, but worthwhile in the end (I imagine).

1- Why did you start blogging?
2- Do you choose the contents of your blog by random or do you have a system?
If I had a system I’d probably be organized.
3- Do you rather type the contents of your post on a keyboard – all ten fingers – or on a screen with thumbs?
Rather use a pen and do it all manually, but that depends on the post.
4- If technology was to become extinct but there was one thing that you could keep, what would it be?
Torches. Lanterns and candles are nice and all, but aren’t as helpful in the woods.
5- Is there a type of blog that you seek to follow, or do you only follow those who follow you – or do you only follow the blogs that you really enjoy?
Follow blogs with mutual interests. If I only followed those who followed me, I’d only be following myself. I like me and all, but I don’t need to read what I write that often.
6- During a cold storm, would you rather spend your time reading, watching a movie or talking on the phone?
    Watching the storm.
7- When you hear the word fantasy, what comes first to your mind?
    Isolation. The good kind.
8- Have you ever lied about having a commitment so you could stay at home lazing around or blogging, or just to finish reading a book you particularly enjoyed?
No, it’s nice to take breaks from some things.
9- What’s a word you can’t stop using on your posts but think you should?
    All of them.
10- If you were asked to rename your blog, what would you name it?
    ‘Here, read this’

  2. Thanks!! Here goes!!!

I started blogging because I was about to turn 53, and I was no closer to writing novel, which was a lifelong dream. I thought blogging would open up my mind, and it did!

    2) I keep a notebook with me at all times. When I get the scent of a good idea I jot it down. Then on sunday night I look over my ides and i choose five and I write in my planner. The night before the post, I think about what approach I want to use to cover the topic. And that’s about it. Finding the little moments in my actual life that do matter

    3) I can only blog on my computer. When I started i was using my ipad but that was a disaster. Oddly, I prefer reading blogs on my ipad. And i’m a lousy typist either way

    4) does my ipod count? Cause it would be music. Or an ereader. those are my two faves

    5) I tend to like blogs of people in their middle ages, because I think we share a lot of the same thoughts but are often afraid to express them. I love book and movie people. And I love organizing people. And I love anyone who has a wonderful way with words

    6) Reading or movie. I HATE talking on the phone with a passion

    7) Hmmmm….is this blog PG?

    8) No. I honor every commitment to the best of my ability. It has to be a really good reason if I cancel on someone.

    9) but

    10) Life in the thought zone

  3. Jina,
You continue to amaze and inspire me with all you get accomplished and how caring you are for everyone. I guess you decided to self-edit? I’m still interested if you need help. 🙂

  4. I’m so glad you’re making progress, Jina. It is a slow process though, isn’t it? Mine is slogging along. Thanks so much for the nomination. I’m going to rattle off some answers!
1- My publisher made me do it! By the time I dumped the publisher, I was hooked.
2- I focus on some aspect of writing.
3- Typing was the most useful thing I learned in high school. I use a keyboard every day.
    4- Laptop. Definitely!
5- I like to connect with other bookish blogs. But I follow anyone who likes to engage.
    6- Reading for sure.
7- Writing and reading books since it’s my genre.
8- No. I’m pretty honest about my priorities.
9- Hmm. Probably “lovely” and “wonderful.” Except that they apply!
10- Probably my name. I’ve heard that authors should name their blogs after themselves so that readers can find them, even though it’s boring.
    🙂 🙂 ❤

  5. Thanks for the nomination!
I also love music, especially positive, uplifting songs with meaningful lyrics. Most of my playlist is Disney! I’ll make a post with my answers on my blog in the next couple of weeks, you’ve asked some interesting questions 🙂
Good luck finishing your book 🙂

  6. 1. I wanted to help people find ways to make even a tiny bit of money on the side because that helped me. 2. My contents are way too random. 3. I like typing on my phone. 4. I’d keep the camera function on my phone or just some digital camera. Photos are something I’d be content with on their own. 5. I follow whichever blogs I’m into. 6. Probably watching pretty little liars on Netflix. And listening to the cold winds. 7. Dragons. 8. Yup. 9. Like. Like I can’t stop it haha. 10. Wandering for NO money. But read anyways? Haha
